Asbestos Exposure from installing cable

This is a story getting asbestos exposure from installing cable! I used to work for a company that installed cable, high speed internet, and digital phone. My job was filled with dangers like climbing 30 foot poles, climbing into attics of all kinds, and dealing with electricty wires, dealing with dogs, dealing with falling, and many other dangers.

Probably one of the worst dangers I had to deal with very often was asbestos! This was in the insulation of many attics, and in the air of the attics. Of course to install the cable I had to be in all kinds of attics of all shapes and sizes. I especially remember one time where I had to be in one attic for a long period of time because of having problems with the installation. Of course the longer I was in there the more I was being exposed to the asbestos. I remember actually choking so bad that I had a hard time catching my breath. There was several times it was so bad that I had to take some breaks and climb out of the attic just to be able to breath.

The fact is this type of thing happens to installers all the time. So the next time you have your cable installed, or internet, or digital phone remember that the installer has to go through and deal with a lot to make sure you have your channels so try to show your support, and show him you appreciate the hard work he does.
